A Base Circlemud Area Creator - A simple site that lets you download a Base Circle Area Creator. It is VERY easy to use. ASCII Mapmaker - The ASCII Mapmaker is a program ment for the creation of ASCII maps. The concept is straightforward. Use the keypad to kreate a map. Then manipulate it using the mouse,, and save it (with or without colors). This program is basically made for builders and coders that wish to be able to make nice maps to put on their mud. NEW! You can now also generate mud-rooms from a map you have made Great for thos booring laaaaarge areas you have to finish by tomorrow Ambiorix's OLC Manual - A good resource for builders who use OLC. Although the documentation is steered particularly for Shadow mud this guide should serve as a good general guideline. Ansalon MUD - Building Site - A comprehensive website for building MUD areas in ROM with OLC. Our building website is dedicated to helping people learn to create areas. An extensive programming section is on command at the click of a button; Featuring mprogs, oprogs, and rprogs, with downloadable .txt versions as well. Updated weekly. - Skol Area Swap - Area Swap is a place to talk about and swap Mud Zones or Areas used in muds. While different formats are necessary for each mud, many can be converted to suit your own mud's codebase. Builder's Club - A place where area builders can discuss ideas, technics, and just help each other out. We have a board to post to and a chat room for quick help along with many links for diffrent types of building! Come in and look around! Builders Academy - This is the page containing all the help files for the Builders Academy (BA), aswell as the application for signing up for BA as a trainee builder or to help train people who wants to learn the arts of building. We will help anyone who wants to learn how to build, as well as anyone who wants to improve their skills, or pass on knowledge to others. D-NET - SWR Builders Alliance & Online Guide to Building in SWR - D-NET was created to help all the SWR builders out there. There are two stages in being a part of D-NET, "Non-Members" and "Member". The Non-Member is for the newer builders who havn't locked down their skills yet. They will recieve tips on building techniques and description creation. Along with resource sites, and the hottest SWR MUDs around. The Member has proven him/herself worthy of being a member, by sending in a small application. Members will not only get the tips, but they will also recieve notices when MUDs are looking for builders. Dibrova - Site is host to a fair-sized download area for zones written in Circle format. Links to pages including mobstats, objstats, and a builder's handbook for Circle and building in general. Small amount of unique code snippets as well. Elderwood Builder's Site - The Elderwood Builder's Site has everything you will need to build using OLC. We operate on a ROM 2.4/DikuMUD/Merc 2.1 code and most of the files on the website were geared towars that. The website also has host to a gambit of mudding clients. Updates to the site are monthly as well with new information all the time. FAERIE, offline ROM area editor. Windows. - FAERIE is an off line Area Editor for ROM muds that was originally used for 'Fallen Angels' mud (mud.fangels.org 4000). Fantasy Sounds or WAVS for Muds - Contains sound files for use with muds supporting sound. Federation Outpost Builders Guide - Official Builders Guide for Federation Outpost MUD. General hints and tips on how to build good areas. Herne's SMAUG Building Guides - Herne the Hunter's (Realms of Despair) Guides on building for SMAUG-type MUDs with some extra ideas and information tacked on. Current guides are not yet updated for SMAUG 1.4, but there is still a lot of good information. Current Guides can also be downloaded as text files. Heroes of Kore - Big Book of Building - Even thou this site is geared towards building areas for Heroes of Kore. This site will show you the basics of zedit, redit, oedit, medit and MobProgs for CircleMuds. You can also download the files in tgz or zip formats to view offline. How to Plan an Area - This document describes a method on how to plan an area. Planning may sound like an obvious thing to do but it is often missed, and poorly thought-out areas on the mud cause the overall quality to suffer. Just as a playwright must plan the story, stage, and actors, so should an Area Builder. LPMUD AreaBuilder - AreaBuilder is a tool to help the LPMUD builder quickly build areas using a graphical tool. It is cross-platform and open source, allowing you to customize it to your own mud if needed. It is intended to both help new coders and let advanced coders do the basics quickly. Lunar Eclipse Guide to OLC 2 - The Lunar Eclipse Guide to OLC 2 includes detailed guides to all of the OLC 2.0 Editors including: SKEdit, RAEdit, GEdit, CMDEdit. OEdit, MEdit, AEdit, REdit, HEdit etc. Although created with our builders and coders in mind, those from any mud would benefit from these Guides. LurF Virtual Map Editor - The LurF Virtual Map Editor was designed to fill a perceived software need among the building community: to support the creation of virtual maps--massive overland map *.are files which depict major topographical features such as mountains, grassland, oceans and cities. It uses a highly customizable graphical interface to design the vmap, save and load the working map file, create a text version for your mud helps or web page, and finally the area file itself. MUD Area Building Software and Links - Information pertaining to Area building, including info about some zone editors and containing archives of some mud worlds. MapMaker - Map Drawing and Area Building Tool - A Java program which offers a graphic interface for easy drawing of area maps. Can also be used to design the room structure of a ROM mud (ne/nw/se/sw directions supported) and thus makes a very helpful tool for area building (can create OLC code too). As a java program it runs under Windows and Unix equally well. Mish's MUD Resources - A growing collection of information on MUD resources, links to building- and MUD-related sites and ROM 2.4 area downloads. Two mobprog guides, one for offline building and one for OLC, are here, along with examples for scripting in different codebases. Nada Games, Inc. -- Home of DescribeIt! - Home of DescribeIt!, the room-description generation engine. Nick Gammon's Client and SMAUG/ROM Editor - You may want three entries, one for the area editors, one for the client, and one for the windows pennmush port. Nick is still active, often seen on M*U*S*H, and is responsive to problems and bug reports. -- Sandi ORB - Offline Room Builder - ORB is a windows based area editors for SMAUG based muds. Features include area conversion, renumbering, and area preview. ORB is well established and has been in production for over four years. OWA - On Writing Areas - "On Writing Areas" is a soft approach to building areas for ROM-like MUDs. Written for Dawn of the Ages, a Java-based PK-MUD, "On Writing Areas" explains the process of building an area from the initial design to the final product. The guide also includes the entire area worked on throughout the guide. Though written for a specific MUD, "On Writing Areas" is accessible by anyone, newbie or veteran, who wants a thorough introduction to the art of writing areas. Rainman's Area Builders Forum - The Area Builders Forum mailing list is back! Accept no substitutes or cheap immitations! Rom Building Guide - Tailored for Aesir, this is a ROM 2.3 base mud building guide. Shadow-Lands Smaug Area Exchange - The Smaug Area Exchange at Shadow-Lands is a great place for independent builders or hi class builders to get with each other and swap areas and ideas. Helpful people everywhere on the board, who all have the same love for building and mudding. Sharune Area Editor - Online/Offline graphical java applet area editor. Edits rooms, mobiles, objects and zone resets graphically and _very_ easy to use. Supports most mud formats and allows muds to submit their own formats. Allows file converting between different mud area files. Sirak's Muditor - Link to the *BEST* Merc/Envy area building software around. 100% customizable, and runs under DOS. Great software to build your area with! Smaug mud Building Information - A selection of smaug building links, general building tips, grammar and style manual links, world-building links as well as historical and fantasy background links. The Art of Building - The main focus of the Art of Building is on content. There are a lot of good technical manuals that teach the ins and outs of various editors, but building is a lot more than knowing the editors. The site is designed to help newer builders with tips on style and planning. The Builder's Clan - A resource for builders and MUD admin on MUDs of all types including a message board, builder resumes, mud listings, articles, links, and more. The Complete Oasis OLC and DG Trigger Guide - Just as the title says. A complete guide to stock Oasis-OLC, ROTD Oasis-OLC and DG Triggers Logically laid out for easy referance, includeing examples The Mud Staff Resource Page - A site dedicated to providing a place for mud administrators seeking staff members to advertise positions and for staff members seeking muds to advertise their skills. The MSRP also includes various resources intended to help builders improve their skills. The OLC2 Pages - The OLC2 pages is a guide to OLC and OLC2, in depth explanations of how things are written, formats for commands, how to create things like exits, shops and much much more. All in all, 30+ pages of OLC documentation. Third Edition Dungeons and Dragons. com - it has the generators that make building so much easier. the dungeon generator is the best download so check it out. it also has other neat things. Vedic's Circle Mud Page - This site hosts various areas, code snippets and miscellaneous documentation that I have written.
